75 Percent of Oklahoma High School Students Can’t Name the First President of the U.S.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Only one in four Oklahoma public high school students can name the first President of the United States, according to a survey released today.

The survey was commissioned by the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs in observance of Constitution Day on Thursday.

Brandon Dutcher is with the conservative think tank and said the group wanted to find out how much civic knowledge Oklahoma high school students know.

The Oklahoma City-based think tank enlisted national research firm, Strategic Vision, to access students’ basic civic knowledge.

“They’re questions taken from the actual exam that you have to take to become a U.S. citizen,” Dutcher said.

The source has all 10 questions and the percentage of those answered correctly.

If todays “education” system had been forced on us by another country, it would have been considered as an act of war.

Don’t blame the students or the teachers. They are human after all, and we humans will do the least amount of work that we can get away with. Blame the parents for letting them get away with it. They have other priorities, like getting that new boat, or a nicer house, or a new car, or that dandy new plasma screen TV.

To the students that passed it, you’re needed. You’re needed desperately. You are the ones that will have to rebuild this country after it crashes. And it will crash, just as surely as the sun will rise again tomorrow. Just try and stay out of the way while we old farts take care of business first.
