GOP ‘hero’ Jan Brewer claims that people will die without a one billion dollar tax increase

By Martin Hill

Republican governor Jan Brewer of Arizona has been touted as a new conservative hero, since signing Arizona’s immigration law SB 1070. GOP party members, so desperate for someone to take action since the feds allowed unfettered illegal immigration for years, have welcomed Brewer with a glee and giddiness unseen since the arrival of Sarah Palin. Some have even suggested she run for president in 2012.  Conservatives who actually paid attention to Brewer prior to SB 1070, such as Red State blogger and CNN political analyst Erick Erickson, noted that Brewer “personally lobbied members of the state legislature to kill the bill (SB 1070) and then kept it on her desk, refusing to sign it until she realized she could use it to help her”.

As usual, a closer examination is in order before lauding praise upon the latest political hack. Shortly before signing SB 1070 into law, Brewer accomplished her dream of billions of dollars in increased sales taxes. In a particularly creepy video posted on youtube, a shrill and insistent Brewer barks that people will die, children will be abused, and ‘education’ (meaning government school) would allegedly suffer if her tax increase is not passed. Anyone who loved Arizona, she insisted, would do ‘the hard thing’ and pass billions in new taxes. Taxes are the answer to all the problems, she claimed, and catastrophe will strike the state if people didn’t jump on board and sign on. Brewer even invoked the name of God innapropriately twice during her angry 4 minute tirade. (Watch the video below).

They love the First Chimp in China

May 15, 2010, when visiting Xi’an Beiyuanmen, I met with U.S. President “Obama” wearing Chinese military uniform. The picture “Obama” painted on the white and gray T-shirt wearing the green military uniforms of 1960s or 1970s and the red star. The lapel badge is hung on both sides, Chairman Mao’s autograph “serve the people” was painted below. The styling is particularly attractive, and such shirt is quite creative.

Good News!!! Arizona energy official calls L.A.’s bluff on total boycott

PHOENIX — Last week, Los Angeles officially boycotted Arizona to send a message about the state’s new immigration law.

Now, the Arizona Corporation Commission is sending back a message of their own.

On Tuesday, Commissioner Gary Pierce wrote a letter to the Los Angeles Mayor and City Council. He said the intention was to “call them out,” and see if they are committed to truly cut off all Arizona resources.

“I don’t think they thought this through,” Pierce said. “There are consequences that involve energy.”

Across Arizona, Los Angeles gets 25 percent of its power from three plants, including the Palo Verde Nuclear Station.

The state can’t literally pull the plug as the city owns the power.

But if tough-talking Los Angeles officials really decide to go through with this boycott fully, then they will have to go without this electricity.

Dick Morris: Bill Clinton Personally Orchestrated the 1993 Waco, Texas Tragedy

By Fred Dardick  Tuesday, April 20, 2010

imageIt looks like somebody is going to have to update the Waco Siege page on Wikipedia. Apparently the whitewashed history that former President Bill Clinton would like us to believe regarding the 1993 federal assault on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, is missing important details regarding his own personal involvement.

In response to Bill Clinton’s highly publicized linking of the Tea Party movement to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing in an op-ed piece for the New York Times, former Clinton adviser Dick Morris disclosed on Monday that it was Clinton himself, and not Attorney General Janet Reno, as Americans have been led to believe for the past 17 years, who called the shots during the 1993 botched invasion that led to the death of seventy-six people.

What our murderous thugs-in-uniform have done in Iraq: Putting it in perspective…

On my old site I had a sidebar article on what has been done to the Iraqi people.

I used the Lancet figures of, IIRC, 655,000 dead Iraqis. It’s hard to imagine that many dead people, so I came up with this:

Assume an average corpse length of 5′.

655,000 dead people x 5 feet = 3,275,000 feet total.

Divide that by 5280 (feet per mile) and that comes to 620.26 miles.

You could walk 620.26 miles on corpses laid head to toe, and never put your feet on the ground.

And for what, exactly???

Now, how many have we murdered in Afghanistan? Anyone know?

Of course, that does not include the 500,000 dead Iraqi kids we murdered through sanctions.

Collateral Murder. From wikileaks

WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad — including two Reuters news staff. Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-site, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee and his rescuers. Two young children involved in the rescue were also seriously wounded. For further information please visit the special project website
